Project BB100

Pure Nature: 100% Bio-Based (BB100)

Project objective: The main goal of the BB100 project is the development of a process chain towards fully bio-based man-made fibre materials. This does not only include the mere processing of biopolymers, but also commonly used additive materials like plasticizers, flame retardants, colorants and nucleation agents. Fully bio-based yarns and textile demonstrators will be developed.

Project Summary    

Arapaha BV has worked hard in close collaboration with many partners to develop prototypes of fully bio-based and fully circular products, such as bath maths, rugs and back packs. These have been developed to TRL level 4 to 5 for bathmats and rugs and TRL level 3 for the back packs. With the support of the BB100 program Arapaha aims to bring these products to TRL level 7 via production of a zero-series, aimed at testing out all steps towards commercial production and prepare the launch into the market upon completion of the project.
