Project objective: The main goal of the BB100 project is the development of a process chain towards fully bio-based man-made fibre materials. This does not only include the mere processing of biopolymers, but also commonly used additive materials like plasticizers, flame retardants, colorants and nucleation agents. Fully bio-based yarns and textile demonstrators will be developed.
Project Partners: Aachen Maastricht Institute of Bio-based Materials, Centexbel
Project Timeline: 1 April 2021 – 31 December 2021
Arapaha BV has worked hard in close collaboration with many partners to develop prototypes of fully bio-based and fully circular products, such as bath maths, rugs and back packs. These have been developed to TRL level 4 to 5 for bathmats and rugs and TRL level 3 for the back packs. With the support of the BB100 program Arapaha aims to bring these products to TRL level 7 via production of a zero-series, aimed at testing out all steps towards commercial production and prepare the launch into the market upon completion of the project.
We are very grateful for invitation we have received from the Aachen Maastricht Institute of Bio-based Materials and the financial support from the Interreg V program Flanders-Netherlands, the cross-border cooperation program with financial support from the European Regional Development Fund.
Together we embrace the new circular era.
Arapaha believes being planet friendly means being innovative. Over the past years, we’ve focused on a new approach of creating and using 100% bio-based materials. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our partners at BB100 who believe it’s possible to create a climate friendly future. Now we’re ready to step into the new age of designing, creating and reusing again and again. Together we embrace the new circular era.
